One of my greatest joys in life is sharing what I've learned with others. Especially when I can help other people feel better. As a healing arts professional, I have found that most people who come to me are looking for ways to get out of pain, to feel more vital and alive and to be able to do the things that bring joy and meaning to their lives.  I like to think of myself as a cheerleader of sorts, offering my clients support, encouragement and a space in which to facilitate healing.

When I first began massage school, I was naturally drawn to those modalities that were specific, structural and focused. I marvelled at how the body was connected, how all the systems functioned together, both interdependent and independent of each other. My interest led me to a course of study in 2004 with Dr. Tom Hendrickson, of the Hendrickson Institute in Berkeley, CA. His method gave me new tools that were highly effective at realigning soft tissue and restoring function for my clients. I was so impressed with the results that I spent four years studying with Tom and became a certified teacher of Hendrickson Method in 2010.

For the past few years I have been exploring the field of conscious awareness, specifically as it pertains to my own body and the felt sense of what is experienced there. Working with my teacher, Zuza Engler, I have learned that my own attention toward my body can be a great source of healing. In my office I see over and over again how we are programmed to move away from our pain, distracting ourselves in any way to not feel what our body is experiencing. I have discovered that is it by turning toward our pain, allowing an outlet for expression, giving space and compassion to ourselves, that true healing can take place.

Are you a healing arts practitioner looking for inspiration and education?  I love teaching and sharing what I've learned! Please contact me if you would like to participate in a workshop. I am happy to teach a class with a small cohort of students.

I believe that we all have the ability to feel better and my intention is to help others find their path to greater well-being. Let me help you feel better today!

All my best,

Susan

"Susan helped me tremendously in calming down the stress I was feeling in my back. ...after 5 sessions I was able to move using muscles that had laid dormant for a long time! I learned a lot about my body from Susan!"

"I have been a massage therapist for 26 years, and in my humble opinion, Susan is at the very top of the level of expertise of care...  Her excellence in technique and skill, compounded with her sensitivity and awareness, are second to none.  She is, what I like to call, a massage therapist's therapist, and that is the highest honor I can bestow upon her."
